If you're using an 8-Channel pipette, especially GEN1, you might see it pick up tips with seemingly excessive force. The pipette will press down very hard on tip racks. It may even cause the deck to bow a little under the pressure.

Don't worry – this is normal! That force is necessary for reliable tip pickup and seal.

Don't try to compensate for it. In particular, don't intentionally jog the pipette too high during tip rack calibration, because that can lead to other problems.
