If you're using a multi-channel pipette, you might see it pick up tips with what seems to be an excessive amount of force. The pipette will press down very hard on tip racks, even causing the deck to bow a little under the pressure.

Don't worry – this is normal! That force is necessary for reliable tip pickup and seal.

Don't try to compensate for it. In particular, don't intentionally jog the pipette too high during tip rack calibration, because that can lead to other problems.
