The Protocol Designer is meant to assist in building simple pipetting protocols for the OT2. If your protocol can be boiled down to a bunch of simple transfers, you should be able to make one no problem.

It’s built to work best on Chrome and a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768.

Currently PD is in beta (it has a bunch of quirks we intend to iron out in the near future). These include:

  1. You must assign left and right pipettes at the start, and cannot change them after.
  2. Each pipette can only use one type of tip rack. Note: If you ask the robot to move a volume that exceeds tip capacity it will break the action up into multiple transfers.
  3. Left and right pipettes cannot share tip racks, even if they use the same kind.
  4. To create a new protocol if one is already open you have to refresh your browser tab
  5. And more...
